The purpose of the aadhar is to give a unique identification number to every single person in india.

The goal of the project is to collect biometric (photograph, iris-scan, fingerprints) and residence address information, store them in a centralised database, and issue a 12-digit unique identity number called Aadhaar to each perosn who are living in india permenantly.The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is established on 12 July 2016 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.Aadhar number contains 12 digits,first 11 digits are aadhar number which is unique and last number is for reduce errors in data entries.Aadhaar is a random number which never starts with a 0 or 1.
Aadhar is individual,each perosn in family has one aadhar.A person can have this addhar with free of cost.The aadhar card is only for not an indian citizens,foreigners who are living presently can also apply for Addhar.The Aadhar card doesnot have validity.Some of states like Andhrapradesh,Telangana linked aadhar to ration cards to avoid duplicate ration cards.
